 PLG : Global Perspectives


The Celts were the first people to celebrate Halloween, but they called it Samhain. They believed that ghosts would come and eat their crops. They left out food to keep the ghosts happy. The holiday All souls day was November 2nd for people to honor the dead. November 1st was all Hallows eve where people honored the saints. People combined All hallows eve and Samhain together a little bit. Then people changed all hallows eve to Halloween to make it shorter.

I think that Halloween is very fun. I like that I get to dress up and collect candy. but I don't like that my doesn't let me eat all my candy all at once!!!

PLG : History I am learning about  the history of Ancient Egypt. They have Pharaohs and their last pharaoh was Cleopatra. Egyptians used to use hieroglyphs to read and write. I am glad that we don't use hieroglyphs because it would take so long to draw all those pictures out.

Science submission 3

PLG:  Life Science   I watched a documentary today about sea lions and learned a few new things. All the sea lions look alike so it's hard for a baby sea lion is theirs. The way they remember it is they know their moms voice and smell. Touching their noses begins their bonding and they stay side by side for weeks. Baby sea lions can find their feet when they are only three hours old! I think sea lions are unique and I want to go see them in person!
